Gone in Sixty Seconds. Phil Patton érdekes cikke a Polaroid történetéről, mely pár hónapja hivatalosan véget ért. (Vagy mégsem egészen.)
A Polaroid egyszerre volt a digitális fényképészet előfutára és a “nemdigitális” utolsó bástyája — nem puszta képekre, hanem megbízhatóan fizikai tárgyakra szakosodott —, melynek közvetlensége és objektum mivolta szembeszegült az elektronikus kép könnyű sokszorosíthatóságával. [...] Egy Polaroid lényegében egyedi tárgy volt, mint egy olajfestmény vagy egy dagerrotípia. Olyan művészek műveltek vele újító fotográfiát, mint David Hockney és Chuck Close.

A pillanatkép négyzetességének volt egyfajta tisztes vonzereje, és a Polaroid hosszan kitartott mellette azután is, hogy más filmformátumok 35mm-esre és téglalapra váltottak. De hiszen inkább horizontálisan látjuk a világot, vetették ellene egyesek. Lehet, de hatékonyabban szervezünk négyzetben, a legalapvetőbb keretben.
Polaroid alkotásokról nálunk: nemrég Damon és Hockney, korábban Papp és Tikos, Means, Kerekes.
Ez alkalommal emeljük ki még Grant Hamilton szép minimáljait. Láthatók itt, ott vagy amott is.

És még inkább André Kertészt. Gyönyörű, érett művészete egy Polaroid géppel itt, ott, amott, emitt, emitten és amott. Albumban itt, erről ott. Filmriport ott.

Végül és legfőképp a filmrendező Andrej Tarkovszkijt, aki gyakran magánál tartott egy Polaroid fényképezőgépet. A belőlük megjelent posthumus albumot már említettük.
